Course, book & production vaultThe Cinematic Curriculum Method

Design your course like a film.

Films hold strangers rapt, in the dark, for two hours straight. Most online courses don’t survive module four. This is the system that closes that gap, built from fifteen years across filmmaking, curriculum design, and academic leadership.

The Trailer
Scene 01 · The Problem

Nobody abandons a great film halfway.

Courses are abandoned. They open with ambition, then quietly disappear into a browser tab.

The failureNot expertise. Not production. Architecture.

Module 1Excitement. Notes taken. Screenshots shared.
Module 2Diligence. Slower now, still there.
Module 3A skipped week. A tab left open.
Module 4Nobody.

Cinema already solved your problem.

Film does not rely on motivation. It creates forward motion.

The method, bound.

The Cinematic Curriculum Method is also a book: thirty-one chapters in six parts, structured like a film production, from development to release. The complete argument and architecture of the method in permanent form. The course makes the method happen to you. The book makes it stay.

“‘Cinematic learning’ was not a field waiting for someone to document it. Kevin Fenemore created it. This is the book that names the discipline, defines the method, and makes it usable.”

From the foreword

Keep it on the desk you design at. Mark it up. Hand it to the colleague who still builds textbooks. Methods that live only inside a course die with the cohort; this one is documented in public, with a spine, under the author's name.

Included in the bundle. Sold alone at £18.99, folded in here so the argument and the practice arrive together.

Chapter 01Act One · Foundation

The Director's Vision

What if the problem with most courses is the vision behind them?

From the book

Most courses are designed the way a studio assembles a rushed sequel: lots of pieces, no unified vision, and an unclear sense of what the audience is supposed to feel.

A traditional course focuses heavily on what needs to be included. A director focuses on what the audience should experience. That subtle difference changes everything.

Instead of asking what topics must be included, ask what experience the learner should have. The design moves from coverage to transformation, from filling slots to sculpting a journey.

The Cinematic Curriculum Method01 / 05
Chapter 04Act One · Foundation

The Learner as Protagonist

The course is not the story. The learner is.

From the book

When you design around content, the learner becomes an audience for the teacher's expertise. When you design around transformation, the learner becomes the central character whose decisions, difficulties and growth give the course its shape.

A protagonist begins in an ordinary world, encounters a problem that cannot be solved with their current identity, crosses a threshold and changes through action. That is also the structure of meaningful learning.

The design question is no longer simply what the learner should know. It is who the learner must become able to be, and what they must do for that change to become real.

The Cinematic Curriculum Method02 / 05
Chapter 07Act Two · Architecture

Pacing, Rhythm and Flow

A course has tempo, whether the designer intended one or not.

From the book

Editors understand that attention has a rhythm. A film cannot remain at one intensity for two hours. It accelerates, holds, releases, creates space and then builds again.

Courses often ignore this. They present every topic at the same volume and every week at the same pace, then read the learner's exhaustion as a failure of motivation.

Cinematic pacing treats intensity, reflection, challenge and recovery as design materials. The learner is carried through an experience with enough variation to remain cognitively present.

The Cinematic Curriculum Method03 / 05
Chapter 18Act Four · Transformation

The Ordeal

Difficulty with purpose, designed at the edge of capability.

From the book

There is a difference between a challenge and an ordeal. A challenge is something you might fail at. An ordeal asks the learner to integrate what they know under conditions that make the outcome matter.

The ordeal must be difficult and the learner must feel safe. Rigor says this is hard because you are capable of hard things, and support remains present even when the mentor stops doing the work.

A real brief, a public performance or an ambiguous scenario can confer the identity the course has been building. The learner proves who they are through action, not by describing what they know.

The Cinematic Curriculum Method04 / 05
Chapter 25Finale · The return

The Director's Cut

Every film ends twice: once for the audience and once for the director.

From the book

You now know that a course is an experience with an arc. It has a beginning that hooks, a middle that challenges and an ending that transforms.

When you sit down to design, you do not start with content. You start with vision. Who is this learner at the beginning? Who are they at the end? What is the transformation?

Design the arc. Build the world. Pace the rhythm. Direct the performance. Edit without mercy. When the credits roll, sit in the empty theatre for a moment and notice what you built. Then do it again, better.

Scene 07 · The Vault

Arrive with an idea. Leave with a studio.

Every working document the course runs on ships with it. The vault is the difference between agreeing with a method and executing one: you never face a blank page, because the page is already ruled, labelled, and half-filled with worked examples.

Scene 08 · The Director
Kevin Fenemore in a university library

Left school at fifteen. Learned how to learn.

Kevin Fenemore left school at fifteen with no qualifications. In his mid-twenties, after teaching himself how to learn, he entered university as a mature student. He graduated into filmmaking, moved into lecturing, and spent the next fifteen years designing courses and degrees across further education, higher education, professional development, and industry in the UK and internationally.

He served as Senior Lecturer, Principal Lecturer, Course Leader, Programme Leader, Academic Director, and Dean. He designed four undergraduate degree programmes, co-created the UK's first BSc in Virtual and Augmented Reality, and developed hundreds of courses. This ran alongside filmmaking, visual effects, graphics, web development, and marketing. Every part of that career entered the method.

The method began in São Paulo as Pipeline Pedagogy: students running a real studio, pitching, competing, executing. In its studio simulation, every student progressed to advanced level. CCM is that seed, grown up and written down.
Degree programmes he designed went through full institutional validation. This is the same discipline, aimed at your course.
He builds and teaches with the method daily. It runs his own flagship course today.

“Most educators stopped studying education the day they started teaching. I never did.”

The two-module guarantee

If you complete Module 00 and Module 01 — including both capstones — and you don't feel the method has already changed how you think about course design, email us within thirty days for a full refund. No questions asked.

Read this before you buy.

This is for educators, trainers, consultants, and creators with real expertise and a course that deserves better: one already live and leaking learners, or one on the way that you refuse to launch as a content dump.

It is a method, and methods ask for work. You will restructure your curriculum, write a logline, design an ordeal, and produce a course bible. If what you want is a folder of templates to skin next weekend, this will frustrate you, and the templates in the vault will not save you from the architecture they belong to. If a textbook is genuinely enough for what you teach, keep the textbook. It is cheaper.

Scene 10 · Questions

Fair objections.

I know nothing about film. Is this for me?

Yes. Film is the lens, never the prerequisite. The course explains every cinematic idea it uses in plain terms, and its guidance is written in tracks for beginners, experienced designers, and narrative professionals. What you need is expertise in your own subject and a course you care about.

Will it work for my subject?

The method is subject-agnostic architecture: structure, pacing, stakes, identity. It was forged across degree programmes in creative and technical disciplines and hundreds of courses in further education, higher education, professional development, and industry. If your subject can be taught, it can be directed.

How much time does it take?

Most people finish in eight to twelve weeks at two to three hours a week. Each lesson is three roughly five-minute videos plus a working session with the workbook, and every module ends with a capstone, so each sitting moves your actual course forward. There is no cohort clock; the pace is yours.

Does it work for corporate training?

Yes. The method optimises for transformation rather than coverage, and that is exactly the gap in most workplace learning. Stakes, pacing, and identity change matter as much in an onboarding programme as in a degree.

I already have a course. Do I start over?

No. An existing course is the best raw material the method can ask for. The very first workbook has you audit it, and every module after that rebuilds a piece of it on the story spine. You finish with your course, re-directed, not replaced.

What exactly arrives when I buy?

Everything in Scene 09: lifetime access to the 13-module course with its evaluators and Tutor AI, the book, and the full vault of production assets, with free future updates as the method evolves. The book comes two ways: buy the EPUB directly from us and download it the moment you order, or follow the link to Amazon and buy it there, where Amazon handles the fulfilment.

How long does the founding price last?

The founding price runs for three months from launch. After that the standard price applies. Nothing else about the course changes — the founding price buys the same lifetime access, on the same terms, for less.

What if it is not for me?

The two-module guarantee covers you: complete Module 00 and Module 01, including both capstones, and if the method has not already changed how you think about course design, email us within thirty days for a full refund. No questions asked.
