1. Who we are

This website is operated by Academic Method Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16528691, trading as Academic Method.

Registered office: 37a Gynn Lane, Honley, Holmfirth, England, HD9 6LF
Email: legal@academicmethod.com

These details are published in accordance with section 82 of the Companies Act 2006 and regulation 6 of the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002.

2. Terms of Service

2.1 Agreement. By accessing academicmethod.com or using any Academic Method service, you agree to these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

2.2 What we provide. Academic Method provides research-led curriculum consulting, training and talks, written and recorded educational materials, and educational software, to institutions, training providers, organisations and individual educators.

2.3 Nothing here is an offer. Information published on this site — including descriptions of programmes, indicative prices and availability — is an invitation to treat, not a binding offer. A contract is formed only when we accept your order or application in writing, or when both parties sign an engagement letter.

2.4 Engagement letters prevail. Where we have signed a separate engagement letter, statement of work or licence with you, that document takes precedence over these terms to the extent of any conflict.

2.5 Prices and payment. Prices shown are in pounds sterling. Where we are VAT registered, VAT is charged at the prevailing rate and stated at checkout or on the invoice. Founding or introductory prices apply only on the conditions published alongside them and may be withdrawn once those conditions are met. Invoices for services are payable within 30 days of the invoice date unless the engagement letter states otherwise. We may charge statutory interest on late commercial payments under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

2.6 Your account and materials. Access to courses and downloads is personal to you or to the named organisation. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity carried out under them.

2.7 Availability. We aim to keep the site and any learning platform available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend access for maintenance, security or development, and will give reasonable notice where practicable.

2.8 Third-party links. This site links to other websites we do not control, including cognitionblueprint.com. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

2.9 Liability. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Subject to the paragraph above, and where you contract with us in the course of a business: we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of anticipated savings, loss of business opportunity, loss or corruption of data, or any indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability arising in connection with a contract, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, is limited to the total fees paid by you under that contract in the twelve months before the claim arose.

2.10 No guarantee of outcomes. Our materials and engagements describe methods and evidence. We do not warrant any particular commercial, enrolment, completion or academic result, which depends on factors outside our control.

2.11 Termination. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, including the acceptable use provisions below. You may stop using the site at any time. Termination does not affect rights and liabilities that have already accrued.

2.12 Changes. We may amend these terms. The version published on this page at the time you enter into a contract governs that contract. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this page.

2.13 Governing law. These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home nation.

3. Consumer rights, cancellation and refunds

This section applies if you buy from us as a consumer rather than for the purposes of a business. It sits alongside your statutory rights and does not replace them.

3.1 Quality. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content and services we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and services must be performed with reasonable care and skill. If they are not, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, repeat performance or a reduction in price.

3.2 Your 14-day cancellation right. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days from entering into the contract to cancel a distance purchase and receive a refund. To cancel, email legal@academicmethod.com with your name, the purchase and the order date. A clear statement is enough; no particular form of words is required.

3.3 The exception for immediate access. Where you ask us to begin supplying digital content — such as immediate access to a course, download or vault — before the 14 days have elapsed, and you acknowledge at the point of purchase that you will lose the cancellation right once supply begins, that right ends when supply begins. We will always ask for that acknowledgement explicitly rather than assuming it.

3.4 Services already begun. If you ask us to start a service within the cancellation period and then cancel, we may charge for what has been supplied up to that point, in proportion to the whole contract.

3.5 Refunds. Refunds are made by the original payment method within 14 days of us accepting the cancellation.

3.6 Additional guarantees. Where a specific product page advertises a guarantee more generous than the rights above, that published guarantee applies to that product in addition to your statutory rights, on the terms stated on that page.

3.7 Complaints. If something has gone wrong, email legal@academicmethod.com and we will acknowledge within five working days and aim to resolve the matter within 30 days.

4. Privacy Policy

4.1 Controller. Academic Method Ltd is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. Data-protection enquiries: privacy@academicmethod.com.

4.2 What we collect. Enquiry and application data you submit through our forms — your name, email address, and any organisation, role, context or message you choose to include. Client and contract data where we work together, including billing details. Learning data where you use a course or platform we operate. Technical data such as IP address and browser information, processed by our hosting provider to deliver and secure the site.

4.3 Why, and on what lawful basis. To respond to enquiries and applications, and to deliver services you have asked for — performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). To operate, secure and improve the site, and to keep records of our dealings — legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)), balanced against your rights. To send marketing emails, and to set any non-essential cookies — your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time. To meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations — legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).

4.4 We do not sell your data. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4.5 Who processes it for us. We use a small number of processors under written terms: Cloudflare, for website hosting and for delivering the enquiry form by email; and, where applicable, our email, payment, accounting and learning-platform providers. A current list is available on request from privacy@academicmethod.com.

4.6 International transfers. Some processors operate outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred abroad we rely on UK adequacy regulations, or on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with any additional safeguards the transfer requires.

4.7 How long we keep it. Enquiry data: 24 months from the last contact, unless a contract follows. Contract and financial records: for the term of the engagement plus seven years, to meet tax and regulatory requirements. Marketing consent records: until you withdraw consent, plus a short period to evidence the withdrawal.

4.8 Your rights. You have the right to be informed, and to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing rests on consent you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out. To exercise any of these, email privacy@academicmethod.com. We respond within one month and do not charge a fee for a reasonable request.

4.9 Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

4.10 Security. The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry submissions are transmitted directly to our email provider and are not stored in a public database. Access to client records is limited to those who need it.

5. Cookies

5.1 Strictly necessary storage. We store your light or dark theme preference in your browser. It stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is not used to identify you. It does not require consent.

5.2 No measurement is running. This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies and makes no request to Google, Meta or LinkedIn. There is nothing here to consent to, so you are not asked. Should that change, this clause will name every provider, nothing will load until you accept, and declining will remain a genuine choice that costs you nothing.

5.3 Managing storage. You can clear or block site storage in your browser settings at any time. Doing so means the site will not remember your theme preference.

6. Acceptable use and intellectual property

6.1 Our intellectual property. The Academic Method frameworks — including pedagogical attentional affordance, the 4E Cascade, the Fenemore Law, the Cinematic Curriculum Method and the Six Pillars of Curriculum Architecture — together with the text, images, video, diagrams, instruments and course materials on this site, are our copyright or are used under licence. All rights are reserved.

6.2 What you may do. You may read, and quote short extracts from, the material on this site for research, review, teaching or private study, with attribution to Academic Method. You may apply what you learn in your own teaching and course design. Purchased materials may be used by the individual or named organisation that bought them.

6.3 What you may not do. Reproduce, redistribute, resell, sublicense or publish our materials, in whole or in substantial part, without written permission. Share course access, downloads or diagnostic outputs beyond the licensed individual or organisation. Repackage our frameworks or instruments as your own product or training offer. Use automated tools to scrape or bulk download the site, or to train a model on our materials, without written permission. Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, or interfere with its operation or security.

6.4 Diagnostic tools. The no-charge curriculum and recruitment diagnostics are provided for personal and organisational use. Their findings and templates may not be resold or repackaged.

6.5 Licensing. Wider institutional or commercial use is available under written licence. Write to legal@academicmethod.com.
